Kenneth Albert Newing OSB (born 29 August 1923) was the Anglican Bishop of Plymouth from 1982〔The Times, Wednesday, Nov 25, 1981; pg. 14; Issue 61091; col E ''Church news New Suffragan Bishop of Plymouth''〕 to 1988. Newing was educated at Dover Grammar School for Boys〔Who's Who 2008: London, A & C Black, 2008 ISBN 978-0-7136-8555-8〕 and Selwyn College, Cambridge. After a period of study at The College of the Resurrection, Mirfield he was ordained in 1955 and began his career with a curacy at Plymstock followed by a long period as Rector of Plympton St Maurice.〔''Crockford's Clerical Directory 2008/2009 (100th edition)'', Church House Publishing (ISBN 978-0-7151-1030-0).〕 In 1978 he became the Archdeacon of Plymouth and four years later its Suffragan Bishop.
